Salon Sales Deadline

If you’re not using deadlines in your ads, postcards, fliers, and sales letters you’re wasting thousands of dollars a month needlessly.

Using a simple deadline allows you the ability to track your marketing results and make adjustments quickly. When I started my first business 13 years ago I sent out thousands of postcards and letters to potential prospects with no way of knowing if my marketing was working. One week I’d have a few prospects stop in, and the next nothing. I had no idea where my prospects were coming from.

It was the equivalent of throwing money out the window as you drive down the highway.

Having a deadline in your marketing gets your prospects and clients to act immediately or miss out on what you’re offering. When done properly your prospects and clients should feel like they need to stop what they’re doing,  pick up the phone and call so they don’t miss out.

Have you ever watched QVC or the Shopping Network? They do an amazing job creating deadlines and scarcity in order to get people to order immediately. My favorite is the countdown. Here’s how it works. They tell you that they have one thousand lap tops for sale at this amazing low price. And then every 25 seconds they update you on how many they have left leaving everyone with that “fear of loss” that makes us all take action.

Do you really think that they only have one thousand lap tops available? They probably have 10 times that amount.  I can bet you that they sell everyone in record time because of the way they create scarcity. How many lap tops do you think they would sell if they didn’t create scarcity or a deadline ? Probably less than 50% of what they normally sell.

People love a good deal and will go out of their way to make sure they don’t miss out. Your goal is to make sure you create scarcity using deadlines in your marketing.

Let me give you a quick example of how to increase salon sales using a simple deadline.

We’re having our annual “Ladies Day Special” coming up July 7th through the 9th. But we can only allow fifty lucky clients to cash in our spectacular 2 for 1 offer that’s available on any of our salon services. You must call us for an appointment by noon on 7/3/2009 to be eligible. Hurry and grab you BFF (Best Friend Forever) and book your appointment today before the 50 spots disappear. (I expect the 50 spots to go quickly.)

This creates scarcity in the eyes of your clients and prospects and gets them to act immediately. Without deadlines people procrastinate. People are so busy these days that you have to give them a reason to act-now! Crafting the perfect offer with a deadline does exactly that.

Having a deadline doesn’t only allow you to track results; it allows you to increase your salon sales at will. Need instant cash flow? Create a promotion with an irresistible offer and a deadline and you’ll have more money coming in than you can count.
